There's always sumthin' goin' on right...well, I've made the decision to buy a place in Florida to spend winters in the sun, but I also realize the need to get product to my clients in the winter months, so I'll be updating my scent list here to make life easier for me without having to retire completely...

Paint, strip or faux it...

 I bought a cupboard,

it was mostly stripped, which is a style

that I love in my home,

however,

I needed to fix the problem without

using a stripper...soooo...

I painted the old varnished section.

 I made a wash of different paints

to create nearly the same color of the stripped wood.

It lightened it considerably,

so I am satisfied...

In the meantime

what to do, what to do...

I just purchased this piece and it has the

same issue...

should I paint, strip or fake it...?

Gonna wait awhile before I decide,

soooo...

we'll wait and see, I'm thinkin'!!!

In the beginning...a revival...

I will now begin posting on this blog the 

photos of the new store, our activities, our inventories,

our new dealers...everything that the travelor

would want to know when seeking a fun

antiquing destination...

a sweet lil' black chest, newly painted,

ready to use.

 We are in an historic downtown right on the

Mighty Mississippi River, well, one block away anyway.

Our shop is filled with dealers in a 3000 sq.ft.

building...we call ourselves a co-op 

because of the multiple businesses that have joined

our lil' quest.

 

 First and foremost, we have The Wild Thing(me),

then we have the Junk Asylum(Lorie)...

Lorie and I have had several storefronts together,

I guess you could say we are addicted to junk.

When we were offered this building that is right

next door to my daughter's shop, we decided this

would be the perfect fit for all of us.

 So we started compiling AND COMPILING,

it didn't take long to get the store filled, but then...

we decided to start adding other shop owners to the mix.

Plus we had other vendors interested in joining

and some wanting to start a biz, so why not,

we had a complete lower level to fill

as well...so, a co-op is born.

We all love junk, paint and experimenting

with trends, so why not.

The Wild Thing is the name of my soap biz...

been crafting and selling soaps for years, so

I decided this was the perfect name for 

my fledgling brick n mortar...

we've only been open since Nov. 2014,

so this is only the beginning of our

junking quest.  

 

Merchandising the future...

Now's the time to make my plan of attack...
what types of soaps to carry in my store.
Goat milk scented and unscented...

 Pure shea butter, scented and unscented,
5 oz. square bricks of delight...

and of course the Lavender and Patchouli
essential oil goat milk.

Until we know when we get into the new store,
all I can do is plan ahead and compile inventory...
this is the fun part...well, it's all the fun part,
CAN'T WAIT...

It's time...

Soon, after many years without my own
brick and mortar storefront, I've decided to
come out of retirement and open another shop.
We were offered the building next to
my daughter's shop, Candle Shed Effect.
We have just been one year at this new location
and the landlord came to us and said the boxing club
is moving...hmmmm...I said YES!

the menu. My daughter and I have

always made these at the Candle Shed,

but now we will be offering them

wholesale.  A huge corporate conglomerate

has infiltrated our business with Avon-type

selling parties and prizes, but we, as always

still support local, small business,

better quality, fast shipping,
MADE IN THE USA...

They will be offered to small

brick and mortar shops at a small

minimum of 6 per scent.

but since the soap sales have really blossomed at

 Sister's Garden, I thought I had better update.

The Georgia Peach continues to be one of my best sellers...

as well as fresh Cut Grass, especially in the winter,

reminds us of summer I guess.

A focus on Nature and the wild things...

Eucalyptus essential oil...
sure it smells like Vicks,
but what gave you that comforted feeling
when Mom or Granny rubbed it all over your chest...
it was healing and it was love!
I will also be making the eucalyptus in a candle,
you will not believe how relaxing the scent is when
you light the candle in the bathroom...
turn out the lights
lock the door
put on a CD
breathe in the cure
and feel the warmth of the natural essence.
Sure it's strong, but if you have a winter cold, this is just what
the doctor ordered, peace and quiet!
