I just finished pricing and setting out my newest nightlight,
one of my faves I must admit, the base is to die for...

Most everyone that walks in goes 'ewww...creepy'...
but in walks this young gal from Iowa City,
she heads immediately for 'the heads'...
love at first sight, then when I turned on the light...
SMITTEN!!!
What can I say, but Iowa City is an artsy town
and the kids know what they like...
STRANGE!!!
ME TOO!!!
She also fell in love with the 'Dingle Babies'(wind chimes)
and told me of an art fair and a shop in Iowa City for artists
and their strange works of art.

I must check this place out...she's also interested in eyeball earrings...
so guess what I'm doing,
besides a nice glass of Moscato D'Asti...

This is the project I was anxious to work on, couldn't stop thinking about it last night, so I tossed and turned thinking of combination's. I love the use of colored Earth elements all in one piece and a sweet lil' fern frond, surely a first plant from Eden.

My faves again, the fire glazed glass beads, they just really work the imagination, especially the 'fire' red tear drop...love it!

Told ya I was gettin' my Mojo back, have other ideas rollin' around in the old melon...

Well, I thought I'd get busy with some projects that I needed to finish, but I had one more bird to paint...isn't he just the cutest! This photo was just screaming to me, so I dragged out the watercolors and my fave pencil...and VOILA...finished!

I had this pencil sketch of a crow I hadn't done anything with in quite some time, I like to do bird studies...grab a pencil and paper when the evenings aren't filled with tons of other things to do and draw a few sketches.

and then all of a sudden it was tomorrow
and you got nothing accomplished again...

Well, that's my dilemma...
I want to make more jewelry,

just sitting down completing them is a chore...

I was lucky with this lil' guy, he/she still had the body,
so I could remove part of it's shirt for a decorative collar around the base...

I have a little friend that knows me heart and soul...

...let me set the stage...
You walk into an antique shop(The Junk Asylum)and are totally struck by something so decadent that you must have...
but then you weigh the reality...
electric bill
cool stuff
truck payment
cool stuff...
you get the picture, right...

...sooo, I walk into Sister's Garden the next day and right in the doorway is this fabulous Victorian door embellishment that I drooled over at The Asylum...I knew it!!!
However...
there was a tag with my name on it...Barb had purchased it,
but had purchased it for me...OMG!
Barb and I have been buds for nearly 15 years at Sisters'
helping each other in the various ventures that it requires to keep a biz afloat.
She was there when I turned 50
and 60...
there when I divorced
and for the death of my 'X'
she was there when I moved to Florida(tears)
and when I moved back(more tears)
my Grandson
and her Grandson
we have history
lots of history...but...
what we really have is true soul history and
that will be with us today in this life
and beyond...

This piece is a work in color variations, I love the Verdi with the yellow turquoise, the contrast just speaks to me, as does the large grape clustered charm aged in Verdi Gris. Reminds me of the deep green color of the grape leaves and the dusty powder they sometimes get in the late summertime and the antiquity of the Provence...anyway, it works for me.
